Favorite Album: Here's a list of the albums I can listen to again and again. Also, a brief deion by me of each of these albums!!
MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA - BIRDS OF FIRE [1973]
Guitar Guru John McLaughlin's Fusion Jazz project, MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA was one of the first Fusion bands ever. Released at the peak of their career, and played with upparallelled Musical virtuosity, BIRDS OF FIRE is an album that sounds powerful and intricate enough to have been recorded in the Birth of a Supernova.
MILES DAVIS - BITCHES BREW [1970]
When Miles Davis,"The coolest man to have ever walked this Earth", teamed up with John Mclaughlin, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea and other Jazz music Virtuosos in 1969 to re-invent his sound, little had he realised that the outcome would not only re-invent, but instead revolutionize the entire Jazz scene forever. This is where Miles Davis made an orgy of the elements of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Voodoo, Psychedelia, Latin and African music and called it "BITCHES BREW". Indeed!!!
THE DOORS - THE DOORS [1967]
The first album by the THE DOORS needs no introduction. Each listen to this album still sounds like a participation in a forbidden ritualistic ceremony. And you never want the party to stop. Deep, dark, thought provoking, shocking and lyrically and musically incomparable moments in time.
JIMI HENDRIX - FIRST RAYS OF THE NEW RISING SUN [1970]
When Guitar Wizard JIMI HENDRIX, who revolutionized the art of playing the elctric guitar forever, sought to re-invent his own staple sound with this album fusing elements and roots from his Black African lineage with his trademark of Blues and Psychedelia, the result was "FIRST RAYS OF THE NEW RISING SUN". Also includes all 10 songs from his earlier masterpiece "THE CRY OF LOVE". This is Hendrix outdoing himself, lyrically and musically.
LED ZEPPELIN 4 [1971]
There never has been another band like the mighty "Hammer Of The Gods", LED ZEPPELIN. And no other album by a single band in the entire music catalogue of the Univrese that can boast of having 8 different genres of music in one single album, all played to perfection. Acid, Rock and Roll, Celtic Folk, Ballad, Flower Power, Alternative, Country and Blues. 8 Songs. 8 Genres. ONE Album. LED ZEPPELIN 4.
ERIC CLAPTON - FROM THE CRADLE... [1994]
"CLAPTON IS GOD", proclaims a graffitti wall in London from the early 70's till this day. So, what do you get when the Guitar God of the Blues decides to pay a tribute to his Idols? "FROM THE CRADLE..." is just that. 16 Classic Holy Commandments of the Blues re-written by the Guitar God of the Blues.
AC/DC - HIGHWAY TO HELL [1979]
Wanna go for a ride, Have a wild Rock 'n' Roll party with friends, show a low down and sleazy lovin' time to your woman, get turned down by a hooker, groan the Blues, Raise some hell, have a massive beer drinking bash with your friends, shake a leg, sneer someone in the face, kick someone in the nuts or just go for a wild rumblin' and ramblin' night on the town? "HIGHWAY TO HELL" is your ONE album solution to all your Rockin' 'n' Rollin' wishlists imaginable.
BOB DYLAN - TIME OUT OF MIND [1997]
After having put deep, meaningful poetry to simple, yet surreal music for nearly four decades, you'd wonder if there's really anything Bob Dylan had left to write, talk or sing about. But with "TIME OUT OF MIND" he proved that while the fire in his heart remains undiminished, his lyrical and musical genius have only become more matured and deep rooted as the times they went a changing. One of his best albums ever, "TIME OUT OF MIND" is essential BOB DYLAN.
NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN & MICHAEL BROOK - NIGHT SONG [1996]
When Pakistani Sufi legend and maestro NUSRAT FATEH ALI KHAN and Canadian composer par excellence, MICHAEL BROOK joined forces for the second time in 1996, the result was "NIGHT SONG", the sequel to their first album together "MUSTT MUSTT". Layers of sonic textures and soundscapes and Vocal and musical viruosity charged with emotionally compelling lyrics make "NIGHT SONG" a definitive example of Fusion and WORLD MUSIC.
PRODIGY - FAT OF THE LAND [1996]
The album that decimated the gap between Dance, Electronica and Rock with it's sheer ferocity of sonic blasts laced with rebellion and balls in your face Punk attitude. A defining moment in Music.
THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS - DIG YOUR OWN HOLE [1997]
Super High Energy music that defines a NO HOLDS BARRED RELEASE of mind body and soul. From sonic statements that take your brain on a ride on an out of control locomotice breaking all barriers of speed and sound, to songs that are lounge ambient to pieces that defy the boundries of extreme mindfucking Psychedelia. DIG YOUR OWN HOLE.
APOLLO FOUR FORTY - GETTIN' HIGH ON YOUR OWN SUPPLY [1999]
Another perfect example of mucical masterpieces fusing elements of Electronica and Rock. The perfect party album for a wild rockin' time. Best songs to check out here: "Blackbeat", "Stadium Parking Lot", "Stop The Rock", "Lost In Space[Theme] and "The Machine In The Ghost".

Journal
In this day and age of commercial music that's on a larger scale as mindless and monotonous as it could get, with no more originality left in most of the artistes who're just trying to jump on and cash in on the bandwagon of the current trends, Classic Rock And Roll seems now like a forgotten genre.
Yet, once in a while comes along a song by a band that knows where their rooots lie, and an original homage to their roots results in a Classic, yet Modern Rock And Roll anthem that hearkens back to the days of the early 60's in the UK when hordes of bikes used to be seen in the parking lot of the Ace Cafe, London, with black leather Clad Rockers, Bikers and Babes wearing their Bomber jackets with legendary names like Triumph, Norton and BSA sprawled on their backs used to hang out at the Ace, cranking up that Sweet Old Time Rock and Roll on the Jukebox inside.
One such song to come out in recent times is by the Scottish Band PRIMAL SCREAM, who, over the past 20 years or so, have time and again re-invented their own sound and many-a-genres of music in the process and finally came out in 2006 with an album that's a Blazing tribute to what those good old days at the Ace in the 60's were all about. The song "DOLLS" from their album "RIOT CITY BLUES" is nothing short of a Modern Clasic of THAT particular Rock and Roll Genre.
DOLLS [Sweet Rock And Roll]
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G06O3c8kpuE
Saw you walking down the street
Holding hands with some other guy
Wearing a sharkskin suit, black patent leather boots
& big brown flying saucer eyes
I didn't talk to you then
You were kissing your friend
Besides it was the wrong time & place
I went home & took a shower
Read "Our Lady Of The Flowers" by Jane Genet
I knew we'd meet again
Don't want your diamonds
Don't want your gold
I want your love
I want your soul
Come on baby, let's have a good time
Sweet Rock'n'Roll
I searched all over town
Quizzed the dudes hanging around,
No one had ever seen a chick like you before
I hit strip joints & museums
Bars and Clubs & Jesus
I even prayed in a Cathedral for your soul
Then one rainy winter Tuesday
I saw you on the subway
You were headed for the tunnel
Me the door
I pressed my face against the glass
You sped by me in a flash
Like a motorcycle crash
You smoked my skull
Don't want your diamonds
Don't want your gold
I want your love
I want your soul
Come on baby, let's have a good time
Sweet Rock'n'Roll
Here she comes now
So there I was walking in the pouring rain
Wonderin' who & why & where & what you were
I had hallucinatory dreams
Shivers sweats & screams
Like an opiate withdrawal only worse
Then one long hot summer night
I took a motorcycle ride
Saw you looking mean & evil
Spittin' fire from your eyes
Voodoo rockabilly queen
'bout to kickstart your machine
Like a fighter pilot flying off to war
You had a tight black leather jacket
Skull & crossbones on the back
God bless your soul of sweet Gene Vincent
There you were... I say...
Don't want your diamonds
Don't want your gold
I want your love
I want your soul
Come on baby, let's have a good time
Sweet, Sweet, Sweet Rock'n'Roll
